Protecting Kids in Cars

One of the 15 greatest achievements in child injury prevention has been in child passenger safety. New babies are born every day and as kids grow their safety needs change. Parents and caregivers need to pay attention to those changes for at least age 13 when a child can correctly wear an adult seat belt.

Safe Kids hosts car seat checkup events across the country. At these events, certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians teach families how to transport children correctly. They also encourage everyone in a vehicle to buckle up on every ride. While most community events are open to the public at central locations such as General Motors dealerships, hospitals, fire departments, community centers and shopping centers, inspection stations may operate by appointment at a fixed location.
